Every lesson is private, personal, and tailored — never a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Here are the main pathways.
Beginner
A nurturing, play-based introduction to music for young children. We build curiosity, ear training, rhythm, and foundational technique — in a way that feels like an adventure.
Intermediate
For dedicated students ready to grow seriously. We build a strong technical foundation alongside a rich, varied repertoire — from Bach to Bartók — and explore music theory at depth.
Advanced
Deep, one-on-one mentorship for serious students preparing for conservatory auditions, competitions, or professional performance. Intensive score study, interpretation work, and stage presence coaching.
Rediscovery
For adults returning to piano after years away — or beginning for the very first time. No judgment, no rigid curriculum. Just the pure joy of making music at your own pace. Evening and weekend slots available.
A two-week July intensive for students of all levels. Daily lessons, group theory workshops, chamber music, and a culminating recital. Limited to 8 students — applications open March 1st.
Yes — daily practice is essential to progress. A quality digital piano with weighted 88 keys is perfectly fine to start. Tanya is happy to recommend specific models for any budget during your discovery call.
Most students notice meaningful progress within 6–8 weeks. Young beginners often play their first recognisable piece within the first month. Even 15–20 minutes of daily practice makes an enormous difference.
The studio is based in the San Francisco Bay Area and lessons are primarily in-person. Online lessons via Zoom are available for intermediate and advanced students on a case-by-case basis.
Many of Tanya's most passionate students started out reluctant! The teaching approach for young children is entirely play-based, encouraging, and never pressured. The goal is to spark genuine love for music first — technique follows naturally.
Lessons are scheduled on a recurring weekly basis. Billing is monthly, invoiced at the start of each month. A 48-hour cancellation policy applies. Make-up lessons are offered where scheduling allows.
